Additional information / What would you like people to know about you?

He started taekwondo at the age of 13 and began competing at 15. In his first junior European Championships, he won the bronze medal which encouraged him to take taekwondo in more seriously.

By the time he started studying medicine at the University of Minho in 2009, he was training twice a day and soon good international results started accumulating.

He was the first and only Portuguese to ever win a medal in senior world championship competitions, and was also the first and only to become senior European champion.

He was also leader of the world ranking for three months.

His ambition for Baku 2015 is to help Portugal win gold and collect precious points for the Rio 2016 Olympic ranking.
