Breaking the national junior record in the 3000m in the FISEC Games in Malta in front of my home crowd.
Mona Lisa started her sporting career at the age of 10 and immediately started specialising in middle distance events and won silver medals in FISEC Games (orgainsed by the International Sports Federation for Catholic Schools), during which she set a junior national record in the 3000m.
In 2010 Mona Lisa participated for the first time in the European Team Championships (ETCH) 3rd League and, a year later, in the 3000m steeplechase.
This motivated her to specialise in this event and she went on to break the open national record several times.
Mona Lisa recently moved to the UK as part of a government scholarship from the Ministry for Health. She is training in medical physics at Leeds Teaching Hospital.
She is also taking a Master of Science in Medical Physics, having graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta.
