Aykhan’s parents sent his brother to a karate club, but they were not able to afford the fees for both of their children. The coach spotted some potential in young Aykhan, though, and offered to train him. He practised Kata for eight years before starting Kumite. Bruce Lee and the former heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson are his heroes. He likes football and was the captain of his university football team, which became champions in 2011. He can also wrestle, a talent he inherited form his grandfather. He always prays before a bout and focuses on winning. He looks up to Rafael Agayev and is proud to train on the same team. He considers that, along with training, it is very important to psychologically prepare yourself for a bout. In 2014 he injured in his knee and did not train for three months.
