He won a surprise silver medal at the 2013 European Indoor Championships and dedicated it to all the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to coincide with the Bosnia and Herzegovina Independence Day.

He is one of the most popular and well-known athletes in his country and was named the best athlete in 2013. His roots are from Srebrenica which suffered badly during the conflict in the region between1992 and 1995.

He promotes hard work and dedication aimed towards universal Olympic values and is actively involved in education, giving lectures to students of the Olympic Academy as a motivational speaker and champion.

As a result of his achievements and support of the Athletic Club Zenica, many young athletes follow his footsteps in Zenica City.
