Azerbaijan's reigning champion (he won five gold medals at the Gymnastics Event held in March 2015), Stepko won bronze at the 2014 World Cup, held in Osijek, Croatia (parallel bars). He also won gold at the 2015 World Challenge Cup in Qatar (parallel bars). Stepko is a multiple winner at international tournaments and believes that even an untalented man can be an athlete, if he has a desire. During the European Games, he will represent his country along with Petro Paxnyuk and Daniel Lukas.
