Denmark won its third and final gold to complete the Baku 2015 Badminton competition as Niclas Nohr and Sara Thygesen took the mixed doubles final in straight sets on Sunday.

The third seeds' 21-16, 21-16 victory over Gaetan Mittelheisser and Audrey Fontaine of France is Denmark's fifth Badminton medal at the European Games.

Danes claimed gold in the women's singles and men's doubles, silver in the men's singles and bronze in the women's doubles.

Nohr and Thygesen are two places below their French rivals at world no.33, but showed that rankings are only half the story with a dominant display marked by Nohr's prodigious leaping smashes.

And after the final winner, the 23-year-old completed his jump with a knee slide as he screamed in joy before celebrating with Thygesen.

Fourth seeds Mittelheisser and Fontaine had reached the gold medal match courtesy of a win over Irish top seeds Sam and Chloe Magee.

That defeat still ensured that Ireland picked up its second bronze medal of the badminton tournament, adding to its bronze in the men's doubles.

Raphael Beck and Kira Kattenbeck of Germany were the other bronze medallists, having beaten second seeds Vitalij Durkin and Nina Vislova of Russia in the quarter-finals.
