Swiss gymnast was the only double winner in Saturday's apparatus finals

Even with a couple of glitches, Giulia Steingruber artfully worked through her performances to win two golds and a bronze for Switzerland in the women's Artistic Gymnastics apparatus finals at the National Gymnastics Arena.

"I tried to have positive thoughts, just go for it and give my full energy," said the only gymnast, male or female, to win twice on Saturday.

"I wanted to show the audience what I can do, and this day was quite good."

The 21-year-old Steingruber came first on vault (14.999) and floor exercise (14.266), and third on balance beam (13.700).

"I didn't expect the one on floor because my last pass was out of bounds, but it's alright," said Steingruber, the Baku 2015 individual all-around silver medallist.

European Games all-around champion Aliya Mustafina of Russia took gold on uneven bars (15.400), and Lieke Wevers placed first on the balance beam (14.200).

Mustafina said that she, like Steingruber, was content to push through the finals with no major errors.

"I didn't have any falls," she said. "This was probably my main goal - to get through without any falls. I fulfilled that goal and that makes me very happy."
